Magic of the Golden City and national cultural heritage
Prague is not only the capital of the Czech Republic, it is also the country’s cultural, business and political centre. Few other countries have as many cultural heritage sites with historic cities, castles, palaces, abbeys and architectural monuments from all possible eras.
Above all worth seeing is Prague Castle with St. Vitus’ Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica and the Golden Lane. From the Castle District, statue-lined Charles Bridge, one of Europe’s oldest stone bridges, leads to the Old Town. One of the many landmarks here is the medieval Prague Astronomical Clock on the wall of the Old Town City Hall.
Some varied tips for other interests: learn more about the national drink at the Staropramen brewery, admire 115 m² of model railroad with scale models of famous Czech landmarks at the Railroad Kingdom or visit the Przewalski horses at Prague Zoo and learn about their long breeding tradition.
