In May 2008, the hotel group Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG published its first wine book, titled “The Austrian Wines”. On 160 pages, readers are offered valuable information about Austria’s 16 wine regions, can discover the country’s winemakers and get a taste of a total of 143 Austrian wines. In addition to complementing Vienna International’s new wine list in the hotel restaurants, the book is also available for sale in German, English, French, Polish, Czech and Russian.

In the last few decades, the story of Austrian wines has been one of international success. Austria owes this to uniquely Austrian varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt as well as the enormously improved know-how of the country’s winemakers and the resulting increase in quality.

Wine book and wine list

The professional sommeliers, and the rest of the staff at all of the group’s hotels, will present the richly illustrated book to the guests as a companion to the current wine list 2009. The wine list has been translated into nine different languages (German, English, French, Czech, Polish, Croatian, Slovakian, Romanian and Russian), also includes a selection of 40 international wines from Europe and the New World.
