Things to See and Do
History, culture and outdoor attractions
From concerts to theatre to casino, culture has tradition in Carlsbad. But there also is an attractive range of outdoor activities on offer, such as riding, hunting, fishing or hiking at the edge of the Ore Mountains. The tennis club already was one of the best at the beginning of the 20th century. Carlsbad is home to 5 golf courses in beautiful natural settings.
The sights and attractions include museums, galleries, spa buildings, colonnades and observation towers. The best view of the city is from the Diana Tower. Named for one of the town’s more famous spa guests, Goethe’s Lookout located atop the Hill of Eternal Life offers distant views of the Ore Mountains, the Slavkov Forest and the Doupov Mountains.
The Mill Colonnade contains 5 hot springs, 124 Corinthian columns and a space where the spa orchestra gives concerts. The Hot Spring Colonnade covers Carlsbad’s oldest hot spring. Churches worth seeing include the baroque Church of St. Mary Magdalene as well as the impressive Russian-Orthodox Church of St. Peter and Paul with its golden domes.
